After a long day of waiting for 5:30 to roll around, I finally got home to find Bonnie wasn't home and there was still packing to be done. After she finally got home and we had our hour of insuing chaos/packing, we managed to get on the road heading west about 8pm that night. The drive was boring as the drive usually is when you are heading west at night. We stopped at a rather neat looking rest stop just east of Amarillo so I could get out and stretch and take care of the necessities.
This was only a sign of things to come. Shortly after leaving the rest stop, my rest produced a condition known as leadfootitis and apparently on Memorial Day weekend Texas Highway Patrolmen are dispatched to help remedy this problem...and the prescription was to pull over, get a ticket, and later pay a $187 fine for the 80 in a 65 that I was doing. Had he just given me another 9 miles I would've been at the hotel and then the whole thing wouldn't have been necessary. Oh well, according to Bonnie I was due.
We got to the Days Inn in Amarillo around 12:30 or 1 am and hit the sack.
